Team Part 2: The Spine of Christ

I was in the chiropractor's office recently because a therapist told me I should consider getting my back adjusted or aligned. You see, I kept having different parts of my back flare up at different times. She said it was all connected to the spine and my vertebrae. I took her advice and am I ever glad I did. In just a few minutes the Dr. aligned my spine and I’ve felt 100 percent better! I am now able to do many things that use to cause me issues.

While waiting for the doctor to see me, I noticed a picture of a spine. I also noticed that each vertebra was responsible in some way for a multitude of physical issues. I had no idea! At the top was “headaches,” at the bottom was “numbness in legs” and in the middle was EVERYTHING ELSE!

This caused me to think, if God commands the man to be the HEAD of the family as Christ is the HEAD of the church, then could it be that we are the spine of Christ and our families are the spine of our men? If I’m out of line with Christ, am I causing problems in the body? If wives and children are out of line with their husbands and fathers, could this inhibit his ability to lead them, guide them, and govern them? What if we could make a few “adjustments” as the spine or body of Christ and be beneficial to ourselves? What if wives and children could align themselves more with the husband and father so that he could think better, breathe better, and perform better for them?

Let's take one incident where Jesus was disrespected in Mark 6: “3 Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him. (Familiarity, disrespect)4 But Jesus said to them, ‘A prophet is not without honor except in his own country, among his own relatives, and in his own house.’ 5 Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.”This is an example of how the people, the spine, being out of alignment, actually ended up hurting themselves. Their lack of faith in Him stopped the miracles for them.

Let me propose something to your family for this Fathers Day, the way to get into alignment in your home is to use an adjustment of respect and honor for the father/husband position which was created by God to be a blessing for you. The man was commanded by God to fill this position. Men are fuelled by respect and honor, it’s what we live for.

This Father’s Day, be very aware and intentional in your words and deeds towards the head of your home. A small adjustment of honor will yield a harvest of agape and romantic love from your man. TEAM! TOGETHER EVERYONE ACHIEVES MORE!

Your challenge this week: take one week and do nothing but complement your father/husband for providing, spending time, sacrificing. Whatever he does, honor that. Watch out, because you're providing his fuel and now he’s going to go into overdrive in his gift to serve you! Write to me and tell me what you did and how it turned out.
