Team: Father’s Day Part 1

You may have heard of the acronym “TEAM”: Together Everyone Achieves More. Well, I’ve been waiting for Father's Day to come around so I could challenge you to really think outside the box and help me fix this chaotic world!

You are made in the likeness and image of God. You are a fixer! You were created to work on a team, or in a family if you will. So, with this blog I challenge you to Take Your Place and do your part to fix the issue of fatherlessness in our world. You can do this! Hang on and I’ll explain. I’d like to take the next few weeks to lay the groundwork so that on June 21, we can celebrate that we have developed the vaccine for fatherlessness.

Having just celebrated Mother's Day, I believe it’s appropriate to share a quick truth that should set the foundation for the next few weeks. I believe it was in the late ’80s that Hallmark cards conducted a survey by using certain prisons in Texas. Because they monitor their inventory of greeting cards, they noticed a peculiar trend in prisons on Mother’s Day. The commissary would sell out of greeting cards in men’s prisons. However, on Father's Day, seldom would they sell even one card! Think we have an issue here? I do. I’ve devoted my entire ministry life to solving this puzzle. The good news is, I think we have the answer.

To quote one of my favorite presidents, Teddy Roosevelt:

So with this in mind, let's be people of action that bring a solution, not just people who whine about troubles. In both our books “Take Your Place” and “Alpha Male,” you can find many statistics about the effects of fatherlessness. I’ve been working in this field for over 25 years and wanted to list a few:

• 61% of homes in the U.S. are fatherless.
• 63% of youth suicides are from fatherless homes.
• 80% of rapists come from fatherless homes.
• 71% of high school dropouts come from fatherless homes.
• 85% of teens behind prison bars grew up in a fatherless home.

Honor is the key or catalyst to turning the heart of the father to the children. Knowing how to utilize honor for the good of the family of God is where many have missed it and in turn lead to the current plague of fatherlessness in our culture. What if you orchestrated the end of rape in our society? You can! What if you helped stop suicide? These are honorable and worthy life quests! Honor and how to use it is the key.

”Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. 6 And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.” - Malachi 4:5-6

When we understand the depth of this scripture and how the Lord strategically placed it here for us, his people to utilize it to turn the world upside down, this thing called life will really change. Stay tuned for part 2. I will expound upon the “how to’s” next week.

In the meantime, get these two books and read them ASAP: Take Your Place and Alpha Male. Reading them will help your perspective so you can be successful in doing your part. GO TEAM!
